Protecting, Defending, and Advancing EMS Professionals Throughout New York and Connecticut.
IAEP Local 20 is a proud and growing bargaining unit representing approximately 900 members across Westchester County, the Northern Bronx, the Hudson Valley in New York, and Connecticut. Our members are dedicated EMS professionals who work tirelessly every day to deliver high-quality medical care in 911, inter-facility, and critical care settings. We serve our communities with professionalism, skill, and unwavering commitment — often in the most challenging and demanding environments.
Our union exists to protect, defend, and advance the interests of our membership. We advocate relentlessly for better wages, stronger benefits, safer working conditions, and the professional respect EMS providers deserve. Local 20 provides representation for members facing discipline, pushes for meaningful policy improvements, and negotiates strong Collective Bargaining Agreements with the backing and support of our National union, the IAEP — a division of NAGE. Through solidarity, accountability, and strength in unity, we remain committed to elevating our members and advancing the EMS profession throughout New York and Connecticut.
From our National Union:
The International Association of EMTs and Paramedics (IAEP) is a 12,000-member, EMS-only labor union dedicated exclusively to representing EMTs and Paramedics. Built by EMS professionals, for EMS professionals, the IAEP understands the unique challenges of our profession and fights every day to protect the rights, safety, and livelihoods of those on the front lines.
Our guiding principle is simple: Members First.
IAEP members believe in a union that is locally controlled, and EMS-focused—while backed by national strength and influence. The IAEP structure ensures that local unions maintain full autonomy in addressing the specific needs of their members, while also benefiting from the resources and power of a respected national organization.
Through the IAEP, locals have access to:
-
Experienced EMS-focused labor representatives
-
Skilled contract negotiators
-
Top-tier legal counsel
-
Strategic organizing support
-
National advocacy and legislative influence
This balance of local control and national clout ensures that EMS professionals are never standing alone—whether at the bargaining table, in the workplace, or in the legislative arena.
Together, we are stronger. Together, we put Members First.
