Peer Support Group
In April 2022, the IAEP Local 20 formed it's first ever Peer Support Team
Our members have successfully completed formal training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), equipping them with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional framework necessary to recognize, address, and mitigate the effects of occupational stress and traumatic exposure. This specialized training prepares them to provide structured, confidential, and peer-based support to fellow EMS professionals who may be experiencing emotional strain following critical incidents or other challenging events.
Through CISM principles, our peer supporters are trained to promote resilience, encourage healthy coping strategies, and facilitate access to additional resources when appropriate. By fostering a culture of understanding, trust, and professionalism, our members stand ready to support their colleagues during times of stress, crisis, or personal hardship—ensuring that no EMS professional faces these challenges alone.
Peer Support services are now available to all IAEP Local 20 members 24/7
Whether you need someone to speak with after a difficult call, are experiencing ongoing burnout, are new to the profession and seeking guidance on managing day-to-day stressors, or are facing any other challenges related to your mental health and well-being, our Peer Support Team is here to assist you.
