Local 20 has different committees to provide our members with support, resources and information.

These committees are for our members and run with the help of our members. We couldn't do it without you!

We are always in need of help so please take a look at the descriptions of the different committees and if interested, click the button below to fill out the form to join.

PEER SUPPORT

This committee will support the ongoing mental health needs of the members within the Local as well as our MOS peers within our response areas, both proactively and reactively. The committee will react promptly when members are exposed to critical incidents, face mental health challenges, or experience burnout by providing peer-led support and resources to the members. The committee will also proactively support the membership through programs and initiatives that support the mental health of EMS professionals.

MEMBER SUPPORT & CHAPLAINCY

Member Support helps with the needs of members who are facing challenges or milestones in their personal lives. This Committee will reach out to those members to provide emotional and spiritual support and also identify needs due to the many circumstances or events that may happen in our members lives. Member Support oversees the Life Event program and assist with organizing fund raisers as needed.

COMMUNICATIONS/SOCIAL MEDIA

Communications committee oversees communication of information internally and externally. This includes our Website, Social Media, Blog posts, emails, press releases and any other forms of communication. This committee will assist the secretary in posting content on our social media channels and other assigned tasks by the secretary.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Finance Committee meets quarterly to review the finances of the union, audit the books among other assigned tasks. The committee also helps the Treasurer in the creation of our annual budget and give the board insight on proposed usage of union funds.

EVENTS COMMITTEE

Events and Social Committee will oversee the planning and execution of events and social opportunities for and by the members of the Local. This committee will find new and creative ways to engage the membership in community events, both in person and online. This committee will help plan items such as holiday events, gatherings and also fundraisers as well.

GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE

The Grievance Committee meets as needed to review Grievance actions as recommended by the Chief Shop Steward and the Board. This committee will help review and suggest next steps for cases going to arbitration.
