National EMS Week is observed annually in May to recognize and thank the emergency medical services personnel who serve communities around the clock. In 2025, EMS Week will be celebrated from May 18-25. This week-long celebration is a national campaign to raise awareness of EMS Week and the important role of EMS practitioners.

Purpose:
EMS Week is a time to show gratitude to EMTs, paramedics, and the entire EMS workforce for their service and sacrifices in providing lifesaving care.

History:
President Gerald Ford first authorized National EMS Week in 1974.

Theme:
Each year, EMS Week has a theme. In 2024, the theme was "Honoring Our Past. Forging our Future," and in 2025, it's "We Care. For Everyone.".

Local EMS agencies, hospitals, and representatives from local or state legislatures often recognize EMS personnel through events like cookouts, giveaways, awards, and public recognition.
