Zoanne Deckelman (b. 4/22/52 d. 10/12/24)

The Honorable Zoanne “Zack” Yonchik Deckelman of Fremont Center, NY, Town of Fremont Town Justice, passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 72 after a battle with cancer.


Born in Santa Anna, California on April 22, 1952, to Paul and Norma (Wright) Yonchik, Zoanne grew up in Callicoon, NY.


Zoanne is a wife, mother, sister and “Oma” to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Her family includes her husband of 51 years, Charles Deckelman; her son William and Anne Deckelman and their children Monika, Emma, Jett Deckelman, Mary and Matthew Gattus; her daughter Sandra Ann Deckelman and Andrew Feigenbutz, and their children Michael and Shania Feigenbutz, Jacob Feigenbutz, and Ryan Davis, and their grandchildren Haven, Paxton, Sophia, Whalen Feigenbutz and Sophia's mother, Kylea May; her brother James Yonchik; her mother in law Helen Deckelman; sister-in-law Penny Deckelman; brother-in-law George Deckelman and Maureen West; nephew Cary Klemm and niece Jaime Klemm.


She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Paul Yonchik Jr and her father-in-law, the Honorable Gerard Deckelman.


Zoanne attended Holy Cross Catholic School and graduated from Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY and then from Orange County Community College. She completed her Paramedic Certification in Cooperstown, NY in 1993.


Zoanne began her Paramedic career at Cooperstown Medical Transport in 1993 and spent the last 22 years at Mobilemedic EMS. She was a life member of Upper Delaware Ambulance Corp. and an active parishioner of St Marys Church in Obernburg, NY, where she was a Eucharistic Minister.


In the 1980’s Zack raced at White Lake Speedway, starting in the women’s Powder Puff division and then moved to open street stock competition and competed in the Cam 2 Race of Champions at Pocono Raceway several years in a row.
